About the Owners


Tara & Matthew Baker
 announced the opening of Fleet Feet Sports Boca on Thursday, October 4 2007. Fleet Feet Sports is a local, family owned and operated business that is part of a nationally known network of specialty running, walking and fitness stores across the country. The Fleet Feet Sports network shares new and innovative ideas and strives to serve you and your unique needs.

Our goal is to make the idea of a healthy lifestyle fun and exciting!

Matthew Baker – Co-Owner:
Matt grew up in Scarsdale, New York where he played competitive tennis and ice Hockey throughout his childhood. He went on to play Division II ice hockey at Southern New Hampshire College in Manchester, NH where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Sports Management. Upon graduation, Matt moved to Boca Raton, Florida in 1995 and began his career with the Adolph and Rose Levis Jewish Community Center and became the Athletic Director shortly thereafter. Matt earned his M.S. in Sports Administration at St. Thomas University in Miami, FL in 1999. In his recent role as Athletic Director at the Levis JCC, where he was employed for nearly 12 years, Matt served on various national committees for the JCC Maccabi Games.

Matt began training for the Disney Marathon in 2001 and since then has completed twelve (12) marathons, including, Boston, Chicago, L.A., New York, Marine Corp., Miami and Disney. He has also run several half marathons and other road races.

Tara Baker – Co-Owner:
Tara grew up in Roslyn, New York and later relocated to Boca Raton. She graduated from the University of South Florida in 1994 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Upon completing her undergraduate studies she went on to receive a Master’s degree in Social Work from Barry University in 1997. Through her life she has always been a runner and is a certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine. Tara has completed four (4) marathons including the Chicago Marathon, New York City Marathon and Miami Marathon and several Half Marathons and local road races.

Matt & Tara have raised thousands of dollars for various charities through running for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and AT-Kids Project.
